Zombie armour Part 2 Lower body
After the relative ease I had protecting the upper body from zombie bites, I found the legs to be more of a challenge. I was going to settle on some shin and knee guards but I wasn't happy. I felt the thighs and even the rump needed protecting too. After all, if you aren't going to take care of your own butt, who will? Once again I turned to the mighty ebay in a search for protection. upon reflection I probably could of looked up over peoples blogs and found out their solutions, but maybe once all the equipment I ordered has arrived and I review my choices I will look up what other people have done. Purely by accident I came across the solution. Kevlar pants. Kevlar is commonly known for it's use in bullet proof armour. Obviously it is a different weave and thickness for the pants but I think it will do the job. The Kevlar protects the thighs and rump and down past the knees. This is a much more holistic protection and one I am much happier with. I still went with the knee and shin guards because I did not want the bottom of my legs exposed the crawling dead heads and the guards came with elbow/forearm guards which I am hoping to convert into a calf muscle guard. Failing that I think I will purchase what appears to be a calf guard used in soccer (football to the British, French and probably a few others) called armadillo guards which looked quiet interesting. The Kevlar pants cost $99 Aus plus $10 delivery and the guards were $14.99 plus $5.99 delivery. Grand total is $129.98 which considering it is pretty easy to spend more than that on a single pair of good jeans, I am pretty happy with. I mean come on, Kevlar. What could be better?
